Leira has proudly announced its ISO 14001 certification — a significant milestone in its journey towards environmental responsibility and sustainable manufacturing.
Since its foundation, Leira has made it a priority to reduce the environmental impact of its operations. The ISO 14001 certification is an internationally recognized standard that sets out the criteria for an effective environmental management system. For Leira, it represents more than a formal achievement — it’s the recognition of long-standing internal practices.
“Environmental concerns and the reduction of our impact on the planet have always been central to our approach,” explains Isabel Teixeira, company manager. “This certification is simply the formalization of practices we have followed for years — not only due to client requirements but also as part of our strategy to stand out from competitors.”
Leira’s commitment to sustainability is aligned with the guidelines promoted by APICCAPS, the Portuguese Footwear Association, which advocates for the development and promotion of sustainable footwear. “For us, sustainability is a key factor,” adds Teixeira. “Ethical values, social responsibility, and environmentally sound practices are what connect us to our clients. Preserving biodiversity is not just a duty — it’s essential for our future.”
